that Carroll catapulted to stardom, curled up in
a child's crib, sucking her thumb. Not only was she
hailed world-wide for her beauty and sensuality,
but esteemed critics and filmgoers alike acclaimed her
"best new dramatic actress in motion pictures" and
she was nominated by the Academy of Motion Pictures
for Best Actress.
